Doug Nichols went to India to be a missionary, but at the start of his language study he became infected with tuberculosis and was admitted to a sanatorium. It was not a very good place to be. It was not very clean and conditions were difficult because there were so many sick people there. Doug decided to do the best he could in that situation.
